F1 – Mexican GP: Lewis Hamilton wins but is not yet champion
Dated: 27 October, 2019.
Max Verstappen (Red Bull-Honda), who was denied a penalty, hit Hamilton in the first round and Bottas later. He suffered a puncture and found himself last. The Dutchman, winner in Mexico in the last two seasons, has risen to sixth place.
Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) won a very tactical Mexico GP in tire management. He was ahead of Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) and Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes).
Hamilton has moved closer to a sixth world title. With three races remaining, he is 74 points ahead of Bottas. The latter can theoretically mark a maximum of 78 points. The decision should fall within a week at the upcoming US Grand Prix in Austin (Nov. 3).
Alleseuropa news reports that the 83rd victory of the British career, the tenth this year, was built on a bold strategy. He made his tire change very quickly, on the 24th of 71 laps, and drove hard to the checkered flag.
